Black Tusk
Garibaldi Provincial Park / Squamish-Whistler, BC

After a few years of talking about Black Tusk and delaying the hike up to its summit, Gopi, Nithin and I finally pulled the trigger and decided to summit Black Tusk.

We started this 10.5 km hike at 8am and reaching Taylor Meadows trail in about 2 hours. The wild flowers were not quite in full bloom yet in the meadows, there were parts from the start of the  Black Tusk trail covered in snow.  Weather was extremely hot and snow present in the boulder field made it easy for us to trek up.

We treaded carefully in the last kilometer as the shale rocks were loose. Soon after 20 minutes from the ridge,  we made it to the chimney of Blacktusk; the last stretch.

We climbed up the chimney and kept a safe distance from each other because of the loose shale rocks.

At around noon, we made it to the summit of Black Tusk. The skies were clear and the sun was out. Unobstructed views of surrounding mountains and the prominent Garibaldi Lake.

MOUNTAIN STATS
Elevation gain: approx. 1,661m
Mountain Height: approx. 2,319m
